A Hard Lesson To Learn

I tried to change the sidebar on my canadianwelcome.ca Wordpress site. The instructions say to always save the code first, in case there is a problem with the change. Of course I did not listen, and of course I had a problem. Now two hours later, I have a different theme, not as nice as my old one, and finally have everything readable again. You would think at my age I would learn to listen to advice instead of learning the hard way. Until next time, Carol

Opt-in Forms

I spent today creating opt-in forms for each of my blogs. Mind you, other than this one on blogger, which is so easy to install, I have no idea what to do next. My other blogs are in Wordpress and have to be copied into the HTML code. For a non-techie like me, that is a big deal. Update: With the newer versions of Wordpress and the use of widgets with most themes, adding an opt-in form is now as easy as on a Blogger blog. I went to Aweber and created my form, copied the code that's produced and pasted it into my HTML widget. And I even sound like a techie, don't I? Until next time, Carol

$100 Challenge

I am entering a challenge at JustMakeMoneyOnline.com to try to make at least $100 online by the end of the year. I hope to make a lot more than that, otherwise with the ten to twelve hour days I put in, I will be making less than two cents an hour. And like my husband says, I always like to put in my two cents worth. Wish me luck! Until next time, Carol

Aweber and I

Aweber is supposedly the best autoresponder around and I am told I need an autoresponder so I can begin to have a mailing list. So yesterday I signed up and after working along with Craig's videos, I managed to create an opt-in form - that pretty little thing up at the top that asks you to subscribe for updates. I really appreciated being able to work with videos because I could keep pausing it while I finished a step, instead of getting miles behind the instructions. Today I wrote a short message that people would immediately receive when they sign up. It was quick and easy to do. The only problem I had was that at one point my information would not save, no matter how often I clicked the save button. Then I noticed that I had not filled in the subject area of the email and as soon as I did that, it saved right away. I was quite pleased with myself, although now a nap is looking pretty good. Do you use an autoresponder to send out emails? Until next time, Carol

Internet Marketing Videos

Internet Marketing is not an easy subject to learn and I've found that I am more of a visual learner. So I was happy to find a site called wehelpnewbies.com which is full of easy to follow videos on all of the beginning aspects of Internet Marketing. Today I watched step by step how to find a subject I am passionate about and then research to see if other people are also interested in the subject. The reason there needs to be passion is so you will stay motivated and not give up when you realize there is a steep learning curve and this isn't easy money instantly (at least, not usually). There are also good video tutorials on Youtube. Do you learn better watching or reading? Until next time, Carol

New Year, New Beginning

After a relaxing two weeks of doing very little online, other than reading my email, I am ready to go again. While updating my sites tonight, I'm trying to listen to some of the audio seminars I've downloaded about Internet Marketing. I can listen to the same one over and over again and get a little more every time. They also motivate me to keep on trying. I've decided to update my blogs three times a week if I can. It seems that even when I don't feel like writing, if I try to do a sentence or two, I start getting more in the mood. The words don't always flow as well some days as others, but the discipline of writing something is good for me. It may seem like I haven't done too much, but every little bit is a step forward. I remember reading about a lady who celebrated her 90th birthday and said if she had known she would live another 40 years, she would have started learning piano on her 50th birthday. What do you wish you'd done? It isn't too late
