Another one of my many learning mistakes was re-sizing a photo for a PDF document I created. The file size was too big to email, so of course I made it smaller - by using the arrows at the sides of the photo to re-size it. But no matter how small I made it, the file size was too big.
My husband says I have no concept of certain things, and file size is one of them. While attending the Picasa class, I had a light bulb moment and realized that I needed to crop the photo to get rid of pixels, not resize and keep the same number. (If you don't know what pixels are, look it up - my definition will only confuse you.)
I don't know if this is a good analogy or not, but it's like taking 100 pounds of sand and when it's too heavy, folding it in half and wondering why it's still too much weight. Does that sound like a good example?
